BRM1000 | ASTOŅIšing Latvia
Date: Thursday, July 2, 2026 • Start Time: 08:00
Start Location: Jaunmarupe (Mazcenu aleja 35 - Car Park)

This 1000km route is an official ACP-certified brevet designed for experienced cyclists seeking a structured and rewarding adventure. The ride follows randonneuring principles—self-supported, with checkpoints to validate your progress. The Challenge: A 1000km Journey

Time Limit
Participants have 75 to complete the full distance. This time limit includes all stops—you'll need to manage your pace, breaks, and checkpoint arrivals carefully to finish within the allowed time. We recommend planning your strategy in advance, including estimated arrival times at each checkpoint.

Self-Supported Philosophy
This is a self-supported ride with no following vehicle. You'll need to manage your own:

  • Nutrition & Hydration — carry enough or plan resupply stops

  • Navigation — use the provided GPX file on a GPS device or cycling computer
  • Safety Equipment — mandatory lights, helmet, and reflective vest

Participants are encouraged to help each other, but official support vehicles will not be available on the route.

🧠 Mental Preparation (1000km)

Mental preparation is just as important as physical training for long-distance cycling. Here are specific strategies to help you succeed in your 1000km brevet.

Mindset for 1000km (Super Randonneur)

The 1000km brevet is the ultimate test of mental endurance. You'll face multiple nights, extreme physical fatigue, and profound psychological challenges. Only mental strength will carry you through.

Strategic Sleeping Plan

Plan 2-3 sleep stops of 2-4 hours each. Sleeping resets your mental state more effectively than anything else. Don't skip sleep to save time — it will cost you more in mental breakdown later.

Day/Night Cycles

You'll experience 2-3 nights on the bike. Each night presents unique challenges. Prepare for night 1 (anticipation), night 2 (exhaustion), and night 3 (detachment from reality). Have strategies for each.

Mental Checkpoints

Create mental milestones beyond the official checkpoints: 250km, 500km, 750km. Celebrate each quarter mentally. These psychological wins maintain momentum.

Emotional Waves

Expect extreme emotional swings — from euphoria to despair in minutes. Recognize these as normal biochemical responses, not reality. When down, wait 30 minutes before making decisions about quitting.

The Voice of Doubt

Your mind will create compelling reasons to stop. Recognize this "voice" as separate from your true self. Answer it: "I hear you, but I've decided to continue." Don't argue — acknowledge and proceed.

Crew Support System

Arrange multiple support contacts who can call or message during the ride. Having a team behind you reduces the feeling of isolation. Share your location so they can encourage you at tough points.

The Finish Mindset

In the final 200km, your mind will try to convince you that you're done. You're not done. Use anger, pride, or stubbornness as fuel. Tell yourself: "I did not come this far to stop now."

Post-Event Recovery Plan

Have a detailed post-ride plan — someone to pick you up, a place to sleep, food waiting. Knowing you're cared for after finishing reduces anxiety during tough moments.

Remember: Your body can handle more than your mind believes. When you think you're done, you're only 40% done mentally. The finish line exists — keep moving toward it.

"The body achieves what the mind believes." — Anonymous Randonneur
