300km Brevet | Ķeipene | LV
Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026 • Start Time: 08:00
Start Location: Upesciems (Skolas iela 8 – car park)
This 300km route is an official ACP-certified brevet designed for experienced cyclists seeking a structured and rewarding adventure. The ride follows randonneuring principles—self-supported, with checkpoints to validate your progress. Participants must be self-sufficient, managing their own nutrition, mechanical issues, and navigation using the provided GPX track.
The Challenge: A 300km Journey
Terrain & Elevation
This is not a flat course. With 125 meters of elevation gain, the terrain will test your climbing legs and descending confidence. While not mountainous, the elevation profile provides a good workout without being overwhelming.
Time Limit
Participants have 20 hours to complete the full distance. This time limit includes all stops—you’ll need to manage your pace, breaks, and checkpoint arrivals carefully to finish within the allowed time. We recommend planning your strategy in advance, including estimated arrival times at each checkpoint.
Self-Supported Philosophy
This is a self-supported ride with no following vehicle. You’ll need to manage your own:
- Nutrition & Hydration — carry enough or plan resupply stops
- Mechanical Issues — bring tools and know basic repairs
- Navigation — use the provided GPX file on a GPS device or cycling computer
- Safety Equipment — mandatory lights, helmet, and reflective vest
Participants are encouraged to help each other, but official support vehicles will not be available on the route.

🧠 Mental Preparation (300km)
Mental preparation is just as important as physical training for long-distance cycling. Here are specific strategies to help you succeed in your 300km brevet.
Mindset for 300km
The 300km brevet tests both physical endurance and mental stamina. You'll face moments of doubt — here's how to overcome them.
Break the ride into 75km segments. Between 200-250km, you'll face the greatest mental challenge. Plan a longer break with warm food at this point to reset mentally.
If you start early, you may finish in darkness or ride through sunset. Prepare mentally for reduced visibility. Trust your lights and focus on the beam ahead, not the darkness beyond.
Accept that discomfort is part of the experience. Instead of fighting it, acknowledge it: "My legs are tired, and that's okay. I can keep moving." This acceptance reduces mental resistance.
Ride with others when possible. Shared suffering becomes camaraderie. Brief conversations at checkpoints can recharge your mental batteries.
Create small mental rewards at each checkpoint (a favorite snack, a few minutes off the bike, checking social media). These micro-rewards maintain motivation.
Remember: Your body can handle more than your mind believes. When you think you're done, you're only 40% done mentally. The finish line exists — keep moving toward it.
"The body achieves what the mind believes." — Anonymous Randonneur
⏱️ Estimated Arrival Times
Plan your pace based on these estimated arrival times. Choose the category that best matches your expected riding speed.
Notes:
- Times are estimates based on average speed and include brief stops at checkpoints
- Leg distances show the distance between consecutive checkpoints
- Actual times may vary based on fitness, weather conditions, mechanical issues, and actual stop duration
- Plan to arrive at each checkpoint at least 30 minutes before closing to account for unexpected delays
