Conquer 300km Through Latvia’s Vidzeme Region – Early Bird Spots Now Open

There is a specific breed of cyclist who looks at a 300-kilometer route and feels excitement, not exhaustion. You don’t just ride a bike; you negotiate with the road. You understand that a “personal best” isn’t just about speed, but about self-sufficiency, mental grit, and the silent satisfaction of ticking off checkpoints under a rising moon.

If that sounds like you, we need to talk about Saturday, June 6, 2026. Audax Latvia is proud to present a brutal, beautiful, and utterly rewarding 300km ACP-certified Brevet starting in Upesciems (Riga district) and carving deep into the rolling hills of the Vidzeme region. This isn’t a gran fondo. There is no broom wagon. This is randonneuring.

The Terrain: Deceptively Flat, Relentlessly Long

This 300km route features just 125 meters of total climbing. So where is the challenge? The challenge is in the relentless, rolling flatlands. Without hills to break up the rhythm, you face constant pedaling. There is no freewheeling descent to recover. There is no peak to summit for a psychological victory. There is only the road, the clock, and your ability to maintain efficiency hour after hour.

This makes the 300km brevet ideal for several types of riders. If you are chasing a personal best, the low elevation allows you to focus entirely on sustained power output. If you are working toward your Randonneur Round the Year (RRtY) award, this route spares your climbing legs for other months. And if you are aiming to complete your first brevet at this distance, the forgiving terrain removes the intimidation of mountain passes while still demanding respect for the 20-hour time limit.

The Self-Supported Gospel

This is an official ACP-certified brevet, which means there are no following vehicles. You are the captain of your own ship, managing your own nutrition and hydration by carrying enough supplies or planning resupply stops along the way. You are responsible for mechanical issues, so bring your tools and know basic repairs. Navigation is entirely in your hands using the provided GPX file on a GPS device or cycling computer. Participants are encouraged to help each other on the road, but official support will not be available.

Safety equipment is mandatory and non-negotiable. You must have a helmet worn at all times, a working white front light and red rear light, and a high-visibility vest or gilet that must be worn during the event. A basic repair kit with tubes, pump, and multi-tool is also strongly recommended. June nights in Latvia are short but cool, so bring a reflective layer that fits over a thermal jacket. This is not about bureaucracy; it is about keeping you safe when you are 200 kilometers from home in the dark.

Who Is This Ride For?

This 300km brevet is designed for experienced cyclists seeking a structured and rewarding adventure. If you are chasing your Randonneur Round the Year (RRtY) award, you need a June 300k to keep your streak alive, and this is your perfect legal tender. If you are eyeing a 600k super-brevet later in the summer, this 300k is the ideal gear check and sleep-deprivation rehearsal. And if you have already completed a 200k and find yourself wondering if you can go longer, the answer is yes. This is the logical, glorious next step for first-time long-distance riders ready to push their limits.

However, this ride is not for beginners who have never completed 200 kilometers, nor for riders who refuse to cycle after sunset, nor for those who do not own a high-visibility vest. The road is honest, and the finish line only rewards those who come prepared.

The Logistics You Need to Save

Register by June 3 to lock in the early bird rate, and do not forget to add your commemorative medal at checkout. The road awaits, and the experience will stay with you long after the finish line.
